Happy New Year & The Gator Bowl

Here’s wishing you an awesome New Year.  Hopefully you didn’t stay up too late last night because…

Clemson and Nebraska kickoff at 1pm today.  I’ve been looking forward to this rematch of the 1981 Orange Bowl for weeks now.  Clemson won that game 22-15 for the National Championship.  Hopefully this game will have the same result…a win for the Tigers!

Here is the proof that Santa really came this year!

Santa came to Town…

Cam and Claire got their picture taken with Santa recently.  The picture is a little different in that Santa had to sneak up behind them because it was the only way to get Claire in the picture.  She was pretty much terrified of him though you wouldn’t know it in this picture.

Also, the kids got lots of great gifts.  Thanks to Santa and everyone else who gave them their cool stuff.  I assure you that Katie and I are very excited that they have new toys to play with!

Last Week’s Christmas Service

The Christmas services at NewSpring Church last week were phenomenal.  You can watch it HERE.  We had an amazing turnout over our 3 locations (Anderson, Greenville and Florence).  There were 14,308 people that attended church at NewSpring last week and  a total of 219 people accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.  Amazing!

Also, it was recently revealed that NewSpring will be going to Columbia.  That’s right Columbia, SC.  I mean if anyone needs Jesus it’s the Gamecocks right?!?!  A definite date hasn’t been set for the launch, but it’s coming soon!

Back to work…

Thanksgiving was awesome.  We had a great time hanging out with our families.  And I ate way too much food!

Over the break a friend of ours, Kelli Owens, asked Katie to do a guest post on her blog and share her thoughts on Christmas.  Katie did a great job and I encourage you to go over to KELLI’S BLOG and read it.

Relaxation

Katie and I headed to Myrtle Beach for a couple days last week.  Without the kids!  We enjoyed sleeping in and shopping.  We also were able to enjoy a show at the Alabama Theatre.  It was really awesome and Myrtle Beach is much quieter in the off season!  We stopped for a picture while we were walking on the beach.

Who are you trying to please?

Today I was confronted with a tough issue.  John 12: 42-43 says that there were religious people that did not follow Jesus because they were afraid that the Pharisees would not be happy.  As I read this it hit me that many times throughout my day I will try to please people instead of pleasing God.  I mean I know what God wants me to do, but so many times I choose to do what I think other people want me to do.  So I choose to please people over God.

I am a work in progress, but I am trying my best to change this about myself.  Besides, when all is said and done Jesus will be the only one left standing.  I need to please Him and not worry so much about what others think.  How about you…who are you trying to please?
